PassportMD: Customization via automation.
Dr. Steven Hacker was already a proven entrepreneur when he approached us about taking his newest venture, PassportMD, to the next level. Up to that point, the company's scale was limited by the manually-intensive process of tracking medical records down from doctors and assembling them into portable devices for its clients. Our challenge was two-fold: automate as much of the process as possible and take the product to the masses to achieve the desired scale.
The solution was to distribute the record collection and aggregation by empowering the customers to log into the website, enter their doctors' fax numbers and use our custom software to send, receive and sort medical records through barcodes that were optically understood by the system. This resulted in transforming a completely manual process into a zero-person solution. And, the customer now has full control over their product since they decide which records they need.
Now that the capacity was present, we set out to build a set of websites that would allow the company to target numerous markets of different sizes. We designed an easy-to-use and sticky interface to simplify the task of collecting one's lifetime medical history. The customer can export their personal health record (PHR) to a printable wallet card, wallet CD or any number of USB-based devices - such as watches and bracelets - that the company sells. This is all controlled by the user from their personal computer on-demand.
